Founded in 2008 in a land of “may contain” labels, Barney Butter set out to create a sure thing—a guaranteed peanut-free nut butter made in a dedicated peanut-free facility.

And while we were at it?
We made it better than everything else out there!

Bye Bye, Bad Texture!

High-quality organic and glyphosate-free ingredients were a given.

But we didn’t love the inch-thick oil slick we found at the top of other natural nut butters, and we weren’t convinced that subpar texture was the price you had to pay if you wanted a better-for-you butter…

…Our solution? Blanch baby, blanch!

We found that when we blanched—or flash-boiled—our almonds, not only did it remove the bitter taste of the skins, but also the excess oils that led to the slick!

It’s this process that gives us our signature (and unrivaled!) creamy texture and taste…and that’s not all! By removing the bitter tannins found in the skins, some people who’ve struggled with other almond butters can enjoy ours with no stomach aches.

After 17 years of almond bliss, we had a thought…

Branching Out

…Shouldn’t peanut butter lovers get to experience this joy too?!

The answer, of course, was a resounding YES—but we knew it could never come at the expense of our peanut-free guarantee. So, we purchased an entirely separate facility (a 10-minute drive from our original factory!) and got to work sourcing, blanching, and grinding for a creamy-from-the-jump, Barney-style peanut butter.
