Barney Butter was conceived by Jennifer Barney, who began making the delicious spread one jar at a time in her Fresno California home for friends, family and the neighborhood kids who’d come around. Everyone loved it and wanted more. So, taking a deep breath, Jennifer launched her business in 2006.

What is Barney Butter?
Jennifer: It's just like peanut butter but better because it's made from almonds!

What makes Barney Butter different from other almond butters?
Jennifer: Taste, texture and locally produced as well as the convenience of no-stir. No oil to stir back in and no need to refrigerate makes it easy to spread and keep in your cupboard (or office desk). Barney Butter is made exclusively from roasted California almonds harvested from nearby orchards. It has an amazing fresh roasted flavor you don't get from other almond butters.

is really smooth and   has great chunks of roasted almonds.

What inspired you to develop and market Barney Butter?
Jennifer: I began experimenting with homemade almond butter for the simple reason that I was unhappy with the other almond butters on the market. I knew that almond butter would be healthier for my peanut butter-loving kids and I wanted them to grab for it on their own without any big fuss. Many broken blenders later, my recipe was perfected.

Pretty soon friends and neighbors were trying it and everyone really thought it was revolutionary. People started calling it 'Barney Butter', so the name stuck. Some just wanted it for the taste, but others had real needs like lowering cholesterol or as a peanut alternative. With much encouragement from friends and family I manufactured my first batch of just 20 cases and took a jar to a local grocer. It was an instant success! Today Barney Butter has s-p-r-e-a-d to over 100 markets in 5 states. And now you too can be good to yourself and eat Barney Butter!
